EXCITING NEWS!!!

We were notified today that we have won a competitive matching grant through the Music Center Education Division that will support our development of an integrated arts program here at Pacifica. This program will include staff development, student workshops, curriculum development and an assembly/performance. A big thank you to Cheryl Ward, our grant writer and especially to our teachers whose letters of interest made a tremendous impact on the selection team. Our Music Center contact informed us that they are very excited to be working with us, as our philosophy and curriculum are a great match for the program they are developing. This is a ground-breaking project at the elementary level and we are thrilled to be part of it.

MORE GOOD NEWS!

Pacifica has won a $28,500 scholarship to participate in the California Charter Quality Institute. This is a three-year project sponsored by the California Charter School Association, established to support new charter schools and charter schools with new leadership teams. The project starts with a 6-day residential workshop from June 26 through July 1, in Marina del Rey. Janette and Beth will be attending.

Parent Appreciation Breakfast

Parents truly do make the difference here at Pacifica. Working in classrooms, organizing committees, researching… everything you do here is important and appreciated. Please take a few minutes on Friday, June 10 between 8:30 and 9:15am to stop and enjoy the breakfast the staff is putting together to honor our Pacifica parents and volunteers.

Staff Appreciation

Please be sure to read the attached flyer from Kellie Briley about staff appreciation activities and ways you can help.

Work and Play Day

Please schedule time to come in and help on Saturday, June 18 between 10am and 3pm. It takes a lot of work to get rooms organized and everything stored so that it will be easy to find and set up for September. Our teachers need your help on this day to have the rooms ready to close for the summer after school is out. YOUR HELP IS ESSENTIAL…PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO ATTEND!

Picnic in the Bowl

Don’t miss this opportunity!!!! Join us as we celebrate the end of the year at Kenneth Hahn Regional Park on Sunday, June 12 from 2-5pm. We will gather in Janice’s Meadow (the big grass bowl). Bring blankets, picnic and outdoor toys to enjoy (Frisbees, balls, etc.). There is a nominal entrance fee to the park on weekends
