LATE WITH YOUR LIGHT-BULB ORDER FORMS? HEY, IT'S COOL!!!

Here at Pacifica, we celebrate doing things at your own natural pace, so if you haven't turned in your order form yet, we have extended the deadline to May 27th. Forms are available in the school entranceway. Please turn in your order form and a check made out to Pacifica to Carmen and we'll do the rest!! Thank you as always for your support.

COMMUNITY FORUM

One of Pacifica's own, Des Conner (6th grade) will be playing guitar with The Future Funk Ensemble on Saturday, May 24th at the Temple Bar in Santa Monica. Show is at 7:00 pm. The Temple Bar is located at 1026 Wilshire Blvd between 10th and 11th Streets. See you there!

SPRING JUBILEE

The spring jubilee is coming up May 31st 1-4:30 pm.

We need help setting up.  The sign up is in the front hallway.

Also we need used books movies and small clean yard sale items.

K-1 UPDATE

K-1 is excited to be finishing up their unit on transportation. There is one more field trip in the works. As the culminating unit of the year, we will be starting a unit on “Self-Portraits”. We are asking for donations of empty, clean, small milk cartons or small boxes for a self-portrait mobile. Thank you Heidi for taking the wonderful portraits of all the K-1 students. As part of this unit we will be discussing what makes us all unique and special, as well as personal information and safety information, such as phone numbers and addresses. Thank you to all the parents who helped on beautification day to organize and clean the K-1 room. The room looks terrific! If you have any questions about the activities or would like to volunteer in the classroom, please do not hesitate to stop by!

1-2 CLASS UPDATE

I would like to thank Richard (Lyric's Dad) for setting up our next field trip which is on Monday, June 9th to Stunt Ranch in Calabasas, CA. Our bus will leave school at 8:30am. That means that we will load the bus at 8:15am- The drive is about an hour away so every one who is attending the field trip has to be on time.

INFO FROM STUNT RANCH:

Each program starts at 10 AM and ends at 1 PM and includes an approximate one-hour hike through chaparral, oak woodlands, grassland and riparian trails. Upon arriving at our little nature center at UCLA Stunt Ranch Reserve, students take part in a rotation of activities that are appropriate to each program.

We try to have a ratio of 10 -12 students per naturalist. Students are self-responsible to carry their own lunches, water bottles and their trash clean up as a stewardship ethic.

LOGISTICS:

Cost per child is $20 (includes bus fee and $5 for the Stunt Ranch)

4-5 CLASS UPDATE

4/5 is wrapping up their Exploration Unit. Sadly, the ships had to be taken down on Wednesday. The students are finishing up their journal entries from the voyage. There were many exciting things that happened. New animals were discovered, a giant octopus attacked a Viking ship, and the Pirates fought Davy Jones. We’re finally done with State Testing! Try to pop in at the end of next week. Our chicks are set to begin hatching next Wednesday.
