LAUSD Board Meeting Update
Here's an update on what happened at the LAUSD Board Meeting on Tuesday.
LAUSD School Board voted to grant our charter one more year! They expect us to come back before the Board next year. Board member Marlene Canter (head of Charter and Innovations Committee was clear that she wants to see another year of data before a more lengthy extension.
No doubt that this spring's testing data will be vital to their review of us next year. We will be meeting to discuss with the entire community how to address this issue.
Huge thank yous to those who wrote, phoned, and emailed and stepped in to help in all the ways that you did. Those behind the scenes like Jennie who spent hours compiling a lovely power point. Patrick and Shaquanda who worked on strategy along with Maarha, Heyze, Eric, Darby, Zeena. Mary Sue and Janin. All the other staff and parents and students who helped in so many important ways. Thanks to Zzyzx who spoke before the Board along with Maarha, Heyze, Shaquanda and Mary Sue, you filled that cold Boardroom with real heart! You all rock! Let me know if you have any questions.

Media Literacy and Violence Study in 6/7/8
Due to the low number of returned permission slips, we will probably not be able to participate in the study and get the full benefit of the offered curriculum and training. If you just forgot to turn the slip in, could you please do so immediately?
SPRING BREAK IS ALMOST HERE!
Our last day at school before Spring Break begins is Friday the 28th of March. We return to school on Tuesday April 8th! (Monday April 7th is a Staff Development Day.)
COMMUNITY AFFAIRS COMMITTEE MEETING
Wednesday, April 9, 2008 – Community Affairs Committee Meeting, 5:45 p.m. at Pacifica. (This will be a planning meeting)
NO WASTE LUNCH WEEK
April 21st through April 25th we will be kicking off NO WASTE LUNCH WEEK in conjunction with Earth Day on April 22nd. Check your email and family boxes the week we return from break (April 7- 11) for more info about this fun week-long event.
