Pacifica WeeklyFebruary 28, 2008 IMPORTANT CALENDAR DATES
If you have items to add to the calendar, please e-mail the date and time along with a description to calendar@pacificaschool.org ART PARTY THIS SATURDAY NIGHT! The uber-fantastic Art Party is THIS weekend! We are so excited about the night: it will be a great chance to come together as a community and raise money for our school. Hopefully, you have given invitations to your friends and family (and anyone you know with deep pockets and a respect for our school) ~ and there are more available in the office. We have some unique art contributions that will make it a great experience. Be ready to come, bid, and take home something special. To make this evening happen, we need a full effort by the community. Please sign up for a shift in one of the roles that will make this event possible. This cannot be hosted by a few, as it will take many hands to make this work light enough to carry out. And don’t forget: taking one of these roles is a great way to get to know other members of our community! Please check the front hall of the school for ways that you can participate and items that we still need. Expose yourself to some art! Help the school raise money! We’ll see you there! Saturday, March 1, 6:30-9:30 pm Live auction and silent auction Santa Monica Bay Women’s Club 1210 Fourth St, Santa Monica, CA 90401 Parking available in a public lot next door Please plan to fully supervise your children at all times if they join you at the event. Thank you for your participation! Parent Participation Committee MEDIA LITERACY & VIOLENCE STUDY For 6/7/8 Families: We have been offered a chance to participate in a study being conducted at UCLA involving Media Literacy and violence. We have been selected as a control group, which means that we will administer a pre-test and a post-test a month later. After that, we will receive, at no cost to us, a complete curriculum on the subject and some of us will receive training in teaching it. Participation is voluntary and requires both parental and student permission. The permission slips will be in your family mailbox over the next few days. I think it is an exciting opportunity, and I would like as many people to participate as possible. I urge you to fill out the slips and return it to the designated envelope in the hallway by Monday, March 3rd. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Laura (laura@pacificaschool.org) MARCH SCHOLASTIC BOOK CLUBS Don’t forget to place your orders by March 7th in the WEISSE family box! |
