Please sign up outside the Purple Room. 5/6 Group: Dear 5/6 parents and community members, Firstly, thanks to those parents who came to our class meeting. I want to also thank everyone who has supported the class or me over the last few weeks. We truly appreciate it. This week we have been working through our test booklets during the morning sessions and working on our Greek projects in the afternoon. We have discussed: "What makes a play?", "Different types of plays" and so forth. We have also discussed Greek culture and politics and are beginning a jigsaw (in groups) project where students are reading about different areas of Greek life and presenting it in a form of a pamphlet. Students are also creating props to represent their area of study. We need: 1. Parents in the classroom!!! Even if you can supervise PE or break...we need you! 2. Arts and Crafts supplies: egg cartons, large cardboard boxes, heavy duty glue, feathers, popsicle sticks, paper cups and plates, wool (all sorts), balloons, felt, fabric, sewing accessories, polystyrene balls, shoe boxes, masking tape.... there is more to come! We need to get these in ASAP. 3. Classroom supplies: large chart paper, expo markers, sharpies, pencils (NO yellow ones please!), pencil sharpeners, and an apron! (Yes an apron, like tool-belts that carpenters have.) 4. Someone to file student work (ASAP please)- there is a lot. 5. Someone to organize a class fundraiser - we are looking at possible ideas for personal work space in the classroom (maybe TV tray tables?) FYI: Students are NOT allowed to bring personal items from home, including iPods, toys, figures and/or books. We are trying very hard to keep things safe and to hold school limits. Please talk to your child about this and ask them to see me if they have concerns.
Thanks for the love, Ramiza 7/8 Group: Hello readers, John-Robin here. Let me tell you about what is going on in the 7/8 classroom. We are diligently preparing for the standardized testing next week, with test prep in Math, Language Arts, Science, and History/Social Studies, as well as strategies for testing. That does not mean that we are only filling in practice bubbles all day though, my no. Test prep has been a great opportunity for the class to find out areas where they need work to hone their academic skills and knowledge. As a result, we are doing lessons, some of them review, on specific areas of content as well. On Tuesday May 8th we will have a parent meeting at 5:30, bring a dish. QUOTE OF THE WEEK We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts, we make the world. -Gautama Buddha |
