TEACHER & STAFF APPRECIATION DAY, FRIDAY, MARCH 9

Please bring in prepared food for breakfast, lunch and snacks to be enjoyed by our hard-working teachers and staff throughout the day. As usual, it coincides with an Early Release Day. Teachers and Staff really appreciate this day -- the smiles in the office are great to see. Thanks once again for your enthusiastic contributions. February's day was a huge success!

WE NEED YOUR LETTERS OF SUPPORT

Please help your school by writing letters of support for Pacifica! We need these letters to bolster our Charter Renewal Effort. Please address your letters either “To Whom It May Concern” or to a specific Board of Education member. If you want a more personalized letter, please e-mail janin@pacificaschool.org for more information. And, as a special bonus: you get 1 hour of parent participation credit on our chart when you write a letter!

DIRECTOR SEARCH COMMITTEE

Our next Director Search Committee meeting will be this Sunday from 10:00 am - noon. Everyone is invited!

INFORMATION ABOUT THE DIRECTOR SEARCH: As you probably know, we are now in the process of searching for a Director for our school for our next school year. The season for job hunting in education has already begun, so we must get the word out immediately.

HOW YOU CAN HELP: There are some ways that you can help:

  1. If you know of an educator who would make a great candidate, please let them know we are searching. Please also inform Beth and Susan.

  2. Help get the job posted on various websites. This is volunteer work you can do from home (at pretty much any time of day). To repeat: EASY, AT-HOME VOLUNTEER HOURS! If you can help, please email Erika at readeachday@hotmail.com THIS STEP IS URGENT. WE NEED TO POST THIS WEEK.

  3. Please attend Director Search Committee meetings. We need input from all segments of the community. Look out for dates and times, or email Susan (HR Chair) to find out more at susan@pacificaschool.org

  4. We will be conducting the various stages of interviews in the coming months. Please plan to volunteer in a stage of the process.

Your input in the process ensures that we find a Director who is the best fit for our community!

This process takes an extra effort from our community, but the payoff will be tremendous. Thank you now for your support of this effort throughout the coming months!!

CLASSROOM UPDATES

K/1 Group:

Dear K/1 Family:

As you know the Dolphins have embarked on a project to create Hawaii in the Purple Room, while the Cheetah's & the Wildcats in the Blue Room, are working on Air Transportation. The "Cheetah-Cats" are going to fly to meet the Dolphins in Hawaii this coming Friday, March 9th for a Luau. We are asking you and the kids to wear Hawaiian attire and to bring food for this special event.

Parents the following is a list of things that we need help with in both rooms:

* File student work
* Bring and Sharpen Pencils
* Label & Organize Shelves
* Organize Cabinets -- (Art, Science, Teacher Resources, Food Cabinet etc.)

Please DONATE Cleaning Supplies: Non-Aerosol/Non-Toxic (Trader Joe's dish soap for example)

K-1 Teaching Team

5/6 Group:

Dear 5/6 parents:

Firstly, thank you for all your support and love over the past few weeks. We are very appreciative! We have some very important information to give you regarding upcoming fieldtrips: please read this information carefully and check-in with us if needed.

We are going to the Palms-Rancho library (National and Overland) next week Tuesday, March 13th. We need you to drop your child off at the site in the morning. We will send out exact times in a Part Two letter. We will be catching a public bus back to school by 3pm. Your child will need to bring $2 for this fieldtrip. Please read the fieldtrip permission slip and once we have the required information, we will send it out to you. 

There will be another fieldtrip permission slip coming out to you on Wednesday regarding a second fieldtrip. We will provide additional information to you on this slip -- make sure you received TWO DIFFERENT permission slips. And please volunteer when you can for these two trips.
