PARKING REMINDERS In our on going effort to build a sense of community and support the neighbors around us, we would like to take a moment to remind parents of our guidelines for parking, dropping off and picking up. Please do not park in the spots south of our front door, in front of the big trashcan. Those spots are for the apartment complex next door, not for Pacifica families. Even if you are just running in, please do not park there. Pacifica cars have been towed from there after only 10 minutes. The dirt lot past the playground is for our parking use. We request that all community members staying for volunteer time please use that lot to park. Wednesdays and Thursdays are street cleaning days so expect the lot to get very full, very quickly. Plan for enough time to find parking, on other side streets if necessary, in order to get your child to class on time. Drop off & Pick up: All parents/community members need to come into the school to pick up their children, unless other arrangements have been made with the office. Safety issues require us to insure that children are not allowed to go outside while waiting to be picked up. When picking up and dropping off, please do not block the driveways of the neighboring apartments. We need to be conscientious and respectful in our treatment of our neighbors. Please NO HORN HONKING! Thank you for your compliance with these guidelines! SAFETY REMINDERS

COOL WEBSITE OF THE WEEK Recommended by Pacifica Parent, Dan Hagerty Parents Against Junk Food is a new non-profit organization started by Christopher Kimball, the Founder of both Cook's Illustrated magazine and the America's Test Kitchen television program. Dan says: “Even though Pacifica does not have a school lunch program, and does not sell food, it is important for all parents and educators to be aligned on a food policy that is in the best interest of children’s health. Their website is an excellent resource for books, articles, and weblogs on the subject of nutrition, food policy, and health that could be of interest to parents, educators, and students.” http://www.parentsagainstjunkfood.org Article of the Week This week we include “When it Comes to Anger, It Is Often about Fear.” In this article, Paula Achenbach describes the reasons behind some children’s difficulty with transition and the dramatic display of emotion that may accompany it. This article may help you to better understand your own child and those you support during your volunteer time in the classroom. Quote of the Week‘Cause you never can tell What goes on down below!
