Annual Giving Update

We’re 2/3 of the way there! 67% of our families have now pledged as part of our annual giving campaign! Here are some additional statistics: 

·         Average donation: $760

·         Percentage of donations over $1000: 40%

·         Percentage of pledges paid so far: 81.5%

Though this is shaping up to be a record year for giving and fundraising at Pacifica, we still need to do better. Pacifica has more expenses than other public schools: most public schools don’t have to pay rent, for example, and our adult-to-student ratio is higher. Your help is important to fund our non-basic programs, and provide the unique environment we do for the benefit of your children.

Your annual giving helps Pacifica in another way, too – it also helps us raise more money via grants. Active participation of large numbers of our families in giving actually increases our chances of winning grants. Pledges in any amount are welcome, and even small donations help us reach our goal of 100% participation. Larger numbers of families participating in giving is often more important to granting agencies than the amount of money raised!

THANK YOU to all of the families who have pledged and given so far. If you have not yet pledged, please consider giving as much as you can now.  

Science Fair

Our second annual Science Fair will be held on Thursday, June 8^th at 6:00 pm. Please save the date. We will have a wide range of things to see and do. Some classes will be sharing classroom projects and others will assign a more independent project. We do expect all students to participate and hope that all families will attend and support our students. 

Explorations Fair

We will be celebrating the culmination of our third round of Explorations on Thursday, June 15^th at 1:00pm with an exhibition of our work. Enjoy museums, performances, and presentations on topics from Edible Art to Metallica. Ask your child which Exploration they are participating in. The entire community is welcome and encouraged to attend. 

Re-enrollment meetings

During your June classroom meetings, we will devote a portion of the time to re-enrollment. Attendance at these meetings is MANDATORY for re-enrollment. Please watch for dates of the classroom meetings! 

Pacifica Wins Another Grant!

Pacifica has won another grant – this one is for $5,000 from Lowe’s Home Improvement to improve our gated yard area. Funds will be applied toward creating an outdoor classroom/informal performance space in the gated yard. Planning for that area will be handled by the Site committee, whose meetings on the subject will be publicized.
