2/21/06: Pacifica Announces Partnership with Innerkids
Foundation. We are partnering with the Innerkids
Foundation (founded by Susan Kaiser Greenland) to bring mindfulness
practice to the school. Initially, they will provide a series of
eight weekly workshops with our K/1 classes. The partnership may
extend beyond that period. Part of the goal is to provide
professional development for teachers so they can also offer this on
their own (as well as participate when Susan is here as the leader).

12/7/05: Pacifica Announces Winning SEER/Environmental Defenders Education Grant This grant is worth over $15,000. Teachers will receive extensive staff development in using the EIC Model™, learning to use the environment as an “integrating context.” In addition to staff development, the grant funds will be spread among the 6 classes for supplies and field trips necessary for projects they design with consultation from the State Environmental Education Roundtable (SEER). As part of grants won by Pacifica from Tree People and the Neighborhood Matching Fund, the entire Pacifica Community is encouraged to join us on Saturday, November 5th to participate in the greening of our school and the adjacent neighborhood. | 6/8/2005: Pacifica has won a competitive grant from the Los Angeles
Music Center (one of only ten given in all of Southern California!).
This grant will support our development of an integrated arts
program, and will include staff development, student workshops,
curriculum development and an assembly/performance.
As if that weren't enough, we also won a $10,000 grant to create a solar robotics program for our two oldest groups. This grant includes lots of mini solar cells, converters, and robot building supplies, AND a field trip (scientist-guided tour and charter bus included) to the Wind Farm near the Palm Springs desert area.
