We would like to invite our students, faculty, parents and community to a unique celebration honoring the completion of our new playground.

2004 at 6:15 pm!
We will be dedicating a sign we made from recycled material with a grant from the CIWMB (California Integrated Waste Management Board’s Tire Cover Grant Award)
With a grant from the California Integrated Waste Management Board’s Tire Cover Grant of $25,000, we have diverted 1260 car tires (passenger tire equivalents) from the waste stream. This means that the rubber surfacing on our new playground is made partially from old tires that don’t have any further use. Millions of tires are discarded every year and end up in garbage heaps. We have reused old tires under a new top cover to make a larger play area that is much more fun and safe for our community.
We will be presenting a recycled content permanent sign to hang on the fence facing Dunn Drive that has been made for this occasion and to inspire and interest others in statewide recycling programs.
We would also like to thank the City of Los Angeles Neighborhood Matching Fund Grant for a generous donation of $4915 we used for wood chips, sand, soil and trees.
And also, school wide contributions of money, sweat and time which helped us successfully complete our new swing set area, garden, sandbox and our nicely growing, shade producing, oxygen inducing, TREES!
We also give a big thanks to Tree People, Los Angeles City Council 6 th district, the Los Angeles Unified School District Charter Schools Office, Gregg Fleishman (designer), and the First Lutheran Church.
Thank you all!
